MEPCO Late Payment Surcharge (LPS) 2026 — Avoid 10% Extra Charge
Every MEPCO bill has two amounts printed on it — one for paying before the due date, and a higher amount if you pay after. The difference is the Late Payment Surcharge (LPS) — a penalty of 10% on the overdue amount charged under NEPRA regulations.

What Happens if You Keep Missing Due Dates?
If multiple bills go unpaid, MEPCO adds LPS to each unpaid month and the arrears compound. After 2–3 unpaid bills, MEPCO can legally disconnect your connection. Reconnection also requires paying a separate reconnection fee on top of all arrears and surcharges.

In exceptional cases (hospitalisation, natural disasters, MEPCO server errors), you can request an LPS waiver by visiting your subdivision office with proof. Waivers are at MEPCO's discretion and are not guaranteed, but genuine hardship cases are often accommodated.
