MEPCO Meter Reading Schedule 2026 — When Does MEPCO Read Meters?
Every month, MEPCO sends meter readers to record electricity consumption for each consumer. Understanding this process helps you verify your bill accuracy and avoid overbilling.
When Does MEPCO Read Your Meter?
MEPCO reads meters on a monthly cycle. The exact date depends on your area and subdivision. Most meters are read between the 1st and 25th of each month. Check your bill under "READING DATE" to find your exact reading date.
What is an Estimated Bill?
Sometimes MEPCO cannot read your meter — the reader may not get access, or the meter may be faulty. In this case, MEPCO issues an estimated bill based on your average past consumption. You will see "EST" marked on the bill.
Estimated bills are common during Eid holidays, monsoon season, or when the meter is inaccessible. The next actual reading adjusts the difference automatically.
How to Verify Your Meter Reading
Read the meter yourself on the same date each month and take a photo.
Compare the reading on your bill with your meter — numbers should match within 1–2 units.
If the bill shows significantly more units than you consumed, file a complaint immediately.
Keep your meter accessible — a locked gate often results in estimated bills.
Wrong Meter Reading — What to Do
If you believe your meter reading is incorrect: note the current reading and take a photo, visit your MEPCO subdivision office with your bill, and file a written complaint requesting a meter inspection. MEPCO is required to inspect within 7 working days. You can also call the MEPCO helpline 118.
